So been trying to trace the petrol smell. Got bulkhead out and slightly pressurised breather system. Looks like one of the pipes to the expansion bulb behind the air intake has a split So reading previous threads it looks like these are nla. Also a right bas**rd to get to. So my options? T the outlets at the fuel tank and just utilize one side. Or make up another loop with copper pipe/cunifer etc & fasten it to the original. Problem being no expansion vessel. Thoughts please.
Seal the crack with epoxy if you can get to it? Taking the rear cluster out gives a bit more access. Or chop it off - you can live without it. Kunifer should be ok.
Cheers Snotts I’ve just got myself wedged though the hatch, head up behind rear lamp arm up to expansion bulb. Not a nice experience. Recon I’m gona try some chemical metal on it.
If that isnt a fix, then you could hard solder cunifer pipes to 15mm copper pipe to make the bulbs - the basic idea is the volume of the bulb is a bit bigger than the volume of the pipe going up from the tank, so the pipe from the tank can "burp" a load of fuel followed by air, the fuel stays in the bulb then runs back. The vapour then leaves in the loop from the top of the bulb going back down to the engine bay.
