Speaker Spacer rings for Kick Panels

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Lofty, Jun 13, 2013.

  1. I want to mount the new speakers in the kick panel but was hoping to find some angled spacers/rings to help point the speaker upwards. Anybody done this ?

  2. Obvious, but have you tried the car audio places? Sounds like something they'd have.

  3. i am sure i have seen these on ebay in mdf fella

I made some in MDF and then covered them in vinyl.

  5. I've seen both plastic and mdf on ebay and car audio sites but they all seem to be the same thickness all around the circumference. I was thinking of more of a wedge type profile to try and 'point' them upwards a bit.

Yes you just measure out the inner and outer circumferences and cut two or three rings of MDF. Stick them together and when they're dry sand one side down to give you the desired tilt. I've got some pictures somewhere of mine when I did them. I'll see if I can find them.

OK found them. Mine are chamfered only on the sides because mine were mounted on the door cards. To make it point upwards just sand to an angle on the bottom and then chamfer the sides after.

Thanks mate. It's only because I'm far too tight to pay for an upholsterer to do them and I have'nt got a sewing machine.
