The panels that sit behind the seats on my late bay walkthrough have no covering at the moment and appeare to have factory holes for speakers. Does anyone have speakers fitted here and what size do they need to be. there doesn;t appear to be much mounting depth, so I assume you either have to fit 'raising' rings on the front (which may look a bit naff?), or they will protrude at the back (in which case, I cannot fit flat trim panels onto the back of the walkthrough panels? Any ideas or photos? ta
are you sure you're not confusing the pressing in the bulkhead back that could be used for heater pipes depending on the model.... chuck a picture up.
No, mine has factory cut holes either side between the seat and the door for speakers. The hole is just below the height of the top of the seat and has a recess where the speaker cone would fit, a round hole in the centre for the magnet and a hole at each corner for the mounting screws. Sorry, but haven't got an account with Flicker, or whatever, to get piccies onto the forum. Someone else must have these surely? ps mine is a swedish model - maybe they like their music more than the english??
Hi They might be just the job for your speakers but they are pressings for fresh air vents for rear passengers. If they are factory cut then your bus would have had ducts from the front fresh air box to plastic trunking on the door cards and then to a plastic connection piece attached to the bulkhead with outlets on the bulkhead itself.
On reflection, don;t think that the sound will be any good as there is too much obstruction from the door ducts. Anyone fitted them in the front kick panel? The only place where there seems to bus sufficient depth is obstructed by the washer bottle filler on the right hand side. Didn;t really want to stick them in the doors, although I did on my splitty and the sound was good.
The reason they sound good in the doors is because the door cavity acts as a boom box, speakers that are in open panels like the original dash mount are just flapping around trying to move all the air in the bus!
