Just picked this up on my travels. Question is were they any good, does anyone have any experience with them. Unfortunately it doesn't come with a wiring diagram but seems complete.

They were as good as it got back in the 80s , electronics have moved on massively but I'd just fit it and see what happens..
I've recently fitted a Lumenition optically triggered ignition set up of probably 1990s vintage but it was a vast improvement on the accuspark SVDA generic dizzy and module. Might also be something to do with a decent Bosch donated to the cause by @Valveandy which is much appreciated - even ticking over it sounds like a different engine

My dad used to make up the Sparkrite kits for his Minis. As those were are a proper CDI they can produce better spark than basic points / electronic points system.
They used to improve damp starting.

But when clipped to the ignition coil, the big capacitor inside used to shake loose. But there was a three way toggle to switch back to points when that happened so you could get home and then resolder it..

  4. The accuspark's usually fail cause they get overheated. Can't see that happening be with the being remote and the good sized heat sink.

Sounds like it might be worth having a go with it. I'll see if I can find a wiring diagram for it and take it from there. :)

Had a few Lumenitions on my Triumph Vitesse, always thought they were pretty good, do they still make/ sell them ?

  7. Put it on EBay
I’m sure some affectionado would buy it
    Then put the proceeds towards
    A nice 123 thingy :)

  8. Should be able to find one on the web, otherwise I’ll have a rummage. Ran one on my Manta then my van for a couple of years - bit dated, but they’re just fine.

As above, they’re capacitive discharge units, so work a bit differently to say a Pertronix. They can give you a hell of a belt if you stick your tongue on a spark plug :). You’ll need to keep your contact breakers to trigger it.

I ran my first mini with one. No idea if it was worth it or not. It still used to break down if it rained hard enough.

Apparantly the delux model came with a Marigold glove with the finger tips cut off as standard.
