Hi After fitting my drla’s and using mybus daily mostly on short distances I almost went bankrupt so as we r going on holidays to always rainy Wales in a few days I decided to put my old solex’s back on..I rebushed them some time ago but theres still alot of play on the spindeles Nethertheless they still better on fuel so spent abit of time trying to set them up..theres quite few other issues with them aswel but..what your thoughts guys about this s/plug colour? Cheers Arek Wysłane z iPhone za pomocą Tapatalk
A bit blurry but the electrode looks to be in clean condition (none burnt away) just a bit rich on the mixture (better than lean though) The true plug colour is a bit tricky to read unless you have just been motorway cruising.
Ideally there should be less black around . But if you arent running temperature gauges like CHT and oil temp. , leave it alone and go and enjoy it.
the thing with checking plugs .you need to take it for a blast ,switch engine off ,coast to a stop then pull plugs
..great advices guys thanks It looks like at the mo swapping carbs didnt change much tho..still crap on fuel consuption.. Anyways I’ve checked my dells jetting so.. Pumps 33 or 35 not sure Air corr 180 Mains 142 Idles 57 were 52 Emulsion tubes 9164.2 Vents 28 Type 4 2 litre motor Wysłane z iPad za pomocą Tapatalk
..last fuel consumption on drla’s 14 mpg but short and I mean short distances..on last trip to Scotland 26 mpg average..(on solex’s)..did not try drla’s on a long trip yet coz of that low mpg tho.. Wysłane z iPhone za pomocą Tapatalk
I got 25 mpg from my DRLAs on standard 2:0 Newcastle to Cornwall at a steady 55mph. Around 20 most of the time.
..well that’s the number I was expecting but probably need more time to get them running properly..maybe even one day to rolling road them but first theres a problem with the engine that needs addressing.. Wysłane z iPad za pomocą Tapatalk
..since I got it running years ago it was always very shaky wobbly at idle..I never managed to run it smoothly..I changed everything on it apart from carbs so always blamed them as they are not in best shape..however I got my dells fitted them and really they so nice and easy to set up but..it still wobbles at idle..its like its not firing on all cylinders abit..hard to explain..I suspect the problem with the valve train..well I even thought I might have done something wrong when put it back together but I took lots of pics so pretty sure everythings ok?..anyway I suspect somethings wrong with the camshaft wheel/gear valve timing if its possible?.. I will try to put some videos of its idling up so you could see its crappy idle.. Wysłane z iPad za pomocą Tapatalk
