Spark plug and leads

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by simon, Apr 9, 2021.

  1. I'm just about to change the spark plugs and leads on my 1600 Type 1 engine, the spark plugs are long reach and the leads are for a blue coil connected to a 123 Distributor. My question are what do people recommend as it's been about 10 years since they were changed.

    Thanks in advance Simon

  2. Set of Berus should be fine.

  3. I've always liked NGK BP5ES plugs in my stock 1600 (Mexican, long reach heads)...

And have had many 10s of thousands of trouble free miles out of these Bosch 'Ultra-Premium' 7mm copper leads...

Don't know if these leads are still available or where from though :hattip:

I doubt if new leads will be as good as the ten-year old ones. My Bosch 8mm silicone leads are years old and I’m not about to replace them any time soon – I can’t anyway, they’re no longer available.

    Another vote for NGK plugs.
