It's Bill Evans' genius piano playing that gets me every time with this one. Bill Evans died too young and there has never been a more complete master of the instrument:
The Communards 'For a Friend' is probably the main one (bought the record on the day my friend died, still have it, but it's never once been played) There's bound to be others.... catch me in the right mood, and the bloody theme tune to 'Neighbours' would make me sob! Oh actually, there's this one too (I know it's cheesy, and it's Bette Midler, but for some reason, I dunno ) It goes off a bit at the end, but by that stage I'm normally a puffy faced sniveling mess so it doesn't really matter
These don’t make me blub as such, but they do get me fairly emosh...... This one John wrote for his mother. And this one sends me all shivery. Eva Cassidy’s cover is lovely it’s true, but it’s the original for me every time
At Glasto ,2005 I think, Brian Wilson was in the Legends slot, beautiful sunny afternoon after all the rain and mud, as soon as his band played the first few bars of God Only Knows, that was it, I was wrecked. This pretty much has the same effect. Beautiful Joni
I change the words to that when I sing along in the van!! this one for me... stopped me in my tracks driving home one day https://youtu.be/5ivKzieP9ZU
