Look to what the Dutch are developing as we speak.....pontoon villages and floating roads....They don't mess about. http://www.dac.dk/en/dac-cities/sustainable-cities/all-cases/master-plan/ijburg-city-of-islands/
estate agents can sell sand to the arabs..... Exclusive, executive detached property, with much sought after security moat and private mooring
I'd heard the Dutch were shoring up flood defences with surplus supplies of leather trousers and old Captain Beefheart records...
I heard they were laughing their orange cocks off over a coffee and bifter in Dam Square... I love the Dutch
i am 1/2 dutch and love the place Most of it is below sea level and that's why they are all tall the short ones drown
don't they use Gouda for life jackets? I was telling some of my kids about how most children in the Netherlands cycle to school....we talked about cycle lanes and stuff, and one girl asked how do they carry things like, books and packed lunches....I said they have rucksacks or special racks on their bikes to put stuff in, and said that's one of the reasons dutch cheese has holes in, so it's not as heavy to carry... They all believed me.....I didn't tell them otherwise
Their cycle lanes terrifie me i would rather cycle down a motorway and i use to race mountain bikes You only need 2 gears through one for the wind behind you and one for going into the wind
Well,I declare! Spent a couple of weeks razzing round The Netherlands on a three speed with coaster brake....beautiful. Previously, my very Ex was staying in Amsterdam working for a street theatre company called Warner and Consorten....I stayed for the summer in an apartment in Jordaan....went everywhere on an old single speed sit up and beg....bit hair-raising at first, but after a couple of days it was second nature....had a mahoosive bell on it
I really love the way the Dutch and Germans have a 1st class cycle lane system where the bikes are kept safe away from traffic. It all goes to encourage cycling. If we had some safe, separate, cycle lanes that went to places like town centres and schools then maybe parents would encourage their children to take up cycling. There would be benefits from having healthier children. Painting the occasional two foot wide cycle lane actually on busy roads does nothing to encourage the take up of cycling. It amazes me that in some places these inadequate cycle lanes just stop halfway along the road? What's that about? Where does the bike go then?
they were designing networks for this milenium back in the early 1970's....Vorsprung durch Weitsicht as they say on the continent
