Hi all just trying to find small weekend driveaway awning, just to bung stuff in really and use as day nite sit out area, any advice on good quality ones ?? We have big garage size job that we can sleep 4 in and have a circus , but its bit toooo big for breakaways etc!!! Plus erection takes ages :
I've been looking at these 2.. http://www.khyam.co.uk/detail.asp?p=757 http://www.jrleisure.co.uk/products/khyam-driveaway-compact-200-new-2011-model/832/?source=froogle&utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=comparison_shopping_feeds&utm_nooverride=1 Thinking of going for the bigger one because it has a bit more to offer, with the inner tent as well. Putting them up should be about the same. I'd appreciate comments from anyone who has them already.
This is our awning, ideal for the 2 of us, takes 15 to 20 mins to put up and its a driveaway http://campershop.co.uk/drive-away-campervan-awnings/17-reimo-tour-easy.html
I was looking at awnings and found the khyam compact 300 on sale: http://www.bradburncamping.co.uk/khyam-driveaway-compact-300/p80 Seems cheaper than most places.
I have said this in previous threads, so apologies to any one who is reading it again. We started out with an old canvas and pole number that came with our first van - many years ago. That gave us faultless service for around 7 or 8 years. When our youngster came along, we bought an easy-up one and gave our old one away. We got around 4 maybe 5 years tops out of that one, before it was completely knackered. We then got a tunnel awning with the carbon fibre poles - 2 years - rogered. We have now gone back to canvas and aluminium pole. OK it's heavy and takes a little while to put up, but it is solid and should out-live most of it's competition. I would add though, in all fairness, we do camp all year round and in all weathers!!! Just to top it off, would you believe, the one we gave away all them years ago, is still going strong - not bad if you consider it was second-hand when it came to us - 17 years ago!!!
Yeh i like that one , can you tell us ?? does front door /flap have a curtain or is it see thru all time?? ie if you leave stuff in their will it be on show and or nuddy movements ) ) )
I've got an old canvas one for the camper, yea it's a bit heavy takes a bit longer to erect. But by god when it's up it's solid and sturdy. Compared to the modern flimsey ones, it was a used one when we got it, we've had it about 6 years and it's still going strong.
This is ours, pretty quick to put up not too mahoosive, the only down side to it was it didn't come with a ground sheet. http://www.campervanaccessories.co.uk/royal-blenheim-ultra-drive-away-awning-p-3208.html

I am going to sell my westy awning (1972) but am waiting for better weather to give it an airing and take some pics, or is it too old?
We went down to camping international today. As we already have a huge 4 man sleeper awning, which is great for long hols and if someone else is coming, we decided we want a smaller one for weekends etc so we ended up getting the smallest Outdoor Revolution one in the end its 2.4 square movelite pro. I did like the kyam but it was a bit bigger and this one has the option of adding canopy or an annex on the side for sleeping or junk which i liked. Quite reasonable so if we change our mind its not mega money down the drain. Anyone else had one??
