slowly but (nearly) surely

  1. finally my cupboards were ready to pick up this weekend after 11.5 months from original completion date. BUT they are done and nice and only a few snagging issues and the chap (mate of my dad's) apologised profusely.

here's the cooker unit - bit too big and sticky outy due to fabricated swing out hinge so sits at a jaunty angle. also, too tall so lid won't lift when slider closed. this can be sorted. i need a knob for the drawer too. Dad's got me some aluminium to line the cooker bit and will fabricate me a swing out hinge if i can find an original to take a pattern from. Steelworkers are ACE!

top locker. my favourite as it finished off the roof lovely

other than the wait, i think he's done a cracking job. he didn't want to charge me labour as he'd taken so long but i insisted especially as the original quote was £150 materials plus £70 labour and frankly i still got a good deal.

just need a floor and the panel cards and then i'm *nearly* there.... new windows putting in, floor down and tiling, finish insulation, roof vinyl sorting, poptop sealing, bunk beds refitting, lighting, table making, cab carpet, fascia of bed, heater, carbs...............etc, etc. :D

Very nice. :) Each of those beautifully made cabinets should have been way more than that... as you know.;)

  3. Birch faced ply?

Looks cracking, buddy box wih piano hinge looks very nice, and the over head locker fits perfectly flush with the roof. Bargain.

  4. thanks.

oh, i know he quoted an excellent price for labour and when he did i suggested he re-evaluate but he said he enjoyed doing stuff like this as he tends to only get to do shuttering at work.
when he said he wouldn't charge me for labour i was gobsmacked and insisted. besides i have his account number from putting in the materials money so he had no choice :)

he's smashing and has some great ideas to try out but it does take a LONG time for him to get started.

yes, it's birch veneer. i wanted to keep the interior light - i may regret this when cleaning it. :)

  5. nice job there ,best things take a bit longer
