Slidy seats

hi all.
Just been trying to get behind my seats to clean them (looks like the first time since 1973) and the seat nearly came all the way off after sliding it forward.
Is this normal?
Had a bit of trouble sliding it back, thought it had come off its runners!!

That's quite normal, grease the runners when you put the seat back in.

Is the retaining catch on the left hand runner working?

 

Yeh the drivers one will slide right off with lever held open, passenger unless its been changed will need un hooking to get it off .

 

Noooo clean and maybe a bit of silicone spray or chain lube, grease will attract fluff and crap.

 

Indeed, the safety catch should stop it sliding off fully.
