Sliding door runner cover - removal

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by chrisgooner, Aug 12, 2013.

  1. Hi guys I'm looking at removing the above and thought I'd ask before starting. I've notice a screw at the rear and a bolt near the door mech. Is there anymore and will it just come off when fixers are removed?
I've heard about a screw on the inside of the van? Or is that on earlies, mines a 79.

    Cheers.

  2. No that's it for a late model. Tap it up diagonally from the back .

  3. That's it on a '79. Early vans had a locking system as well on the sliding door side. Put some masking tape on the bodywork to protect the metal and use some lube to reduce friction. Lift the rear up first, then you can clear the front mount.
How's the window by the way?

  4. I won't need tape cos my body worked is fooked! :) the window is great cheers mate, I'm planning on fitting it soon as I have a few clear days( the bus is gonna need some tlc under the rubbers) and some nice weather. :)

  5. You may have to put a slim length of timber under the cover and bash it upwards. The rubber bits can grip quite hard.
