Sliding door question

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Perez_In_Wales, Jul 6, 2023.

  1. I've been having problems with my sliding door for ages and have decided to give it a good service. I've found the lower locking lever has snapped and the spring has rusted through on the roller block.

Question is, how do I get the pin out?? Is it a case of taking the runner wheel off and bashing it back out? I've seen some pins in online stores that seem to be held in place with a circlip, but the top of my pin is flush with the bracket..

You may need to be more specific. Are all those faults on the middle sliding hinge?
    Locking lever - got it.
spring has rusted through on the roller block. - Not sure what you refer to.
Question is, how do I get the pin out? - which pin?

  3. Thanks for the response..

Yes it is the middle hinge, the one that the U-bracket goes into. I can take a photo tomorrow if it helps? But essentially I need to replace part numbers:

    211843377A
    211843381A

They are on a shaft which might be a better word than pin. It looks like you have to remove the roller wheel and bash the shaft out, but thought I'd check as I don't fancy breaking the block.

Cast ali, press maybe but I wouldn't bash. Never tried it myself though I've seen broken ones (the cast part).
    Good luck.
Hopefully someone here has had one apart.

There’s a circlip that needs pulling out , the pin knocks out from underneath, if you don’t remove the circlip you will break the top off the unit

  7. Isn't the circlip to remove the U bit ? By the part numbers he is trying to remove and replace the little hook that hold the door back. Is that pin held by a circlip ? Looks pressed in ? Heat the Ali and press maybe ? I am guessing. Never done one but as said above seen several broken ones, in fact got a broken one here.

There’s definitely one to take out the pin with the 2 levers :)

  10. I just cant see where a circlip could go? the pin seems to go straight into the cast, it doesnt come out the other side ??

it’s underneath , between the levers and the casing
