Slider Cover Seal

  1. I'm assuming that the seal shown here should be fitted behind the slider cover:

But with the tension strip fitted there isn't really enough room behind this strip for the slider cover and the seal to fit.

  2. I think the cover is held in by that strip then two screws to fix it all in. Devil of a job so I didn't fit it.

Saying that my cover isn't even screwed on and hasn't fallen off yet. :fingerscrossed:

  3. I did this recently on my 79, though it doesn't have the tension strip, so the procedure may differ for you. My seal has a fold on the bottom. You slip the cover into the fold then starting at the door end lower the lot diagonally into the groove. You may need to tap it gently with a mallet or a block of wood so you don't damage the paint.

I applied grease to the seal to stop it falling off the cover. It's a fiddly job but in the end it just slid into place.

  4. ^this. The sealing/trim strip acts as a gripper (quite a tight one).
