Sleeping overnight at motorway service station- anyone done it?

  1. You may have different laws but I wouldn't think a private company could issue a fine on its own unless it sues me through a private lawsuit first or calls the police. Though you do have private parking tow-away companies that seem to do this in UK and USA. not sure how that works.

Still, i would avoid staying where i'm not welcome. It's the why that baffles me.

  2. Oh it's the British way. If someone can get money for something they will especially if it involves spending no money! The crazy thing is that lorries always used to park there overnight. Then they had to pay so they moved to lay-bys on roads away from anyone else. Then the trucks get hijacked and the police have to patrol and they put signs up everywhere saying don't park here because there are thieves. If they had just left it free in the services they could put up cameras for stopping theft and patrol the area. They have cameras now but only to catch your registration and entry/exit time so they can send you a bill!

    Great Britain hey!

Can't tow the vehicle if you're in it.

  5. Don't lorry drivers have a legal obligation to stop every 4 hours or so and rest? Isn't it illegal to drive tired? so how can they fine you for stopping for a nap then?
