I enjoyed very much my driving job but as I was only a whitevanman the hours were mental a 12hrs + a day to knacked to do anything at the weekends.
Absolutely no traffic issues in bristol, ever. It's because we have such a great public transport system and our elected mayor is halfway through turning all A roads into cycle lanes.
Last time I took the bus into the centre 2 miles away I had to speak to wonga before I could get a single...... Cheers drive.....
Was born in menai bridge, moved to sunny Bolton when I was young.wouldn't mind having all the little hidaways on my doorstep now
Could either of you chaps (@jivedubbin and @Colin) help with my fridge delivery? I've bought one off a chap near Bangor and am trying to get it to Techenders at the end of the month. I've had offers from kind people on here that if it got to Bristol or Kidderminster they could take it to TE.
Im in Chester where does you fridge seller work or does he/she ever get any closer to me and perhaps i could pass it on
I don't really know and I think I've asked him enough questions via eBay already! I don't want to put anyone out, just if anyone's already going somewhere could they add my fridge to their load. I'm giving it a couple of days and if it can't be done then I'll CityLink via P4D.
I guess one disadvantage of living somewhere with no traffic is that you can't ask a favour to get your kit moved.....
Before not being picked in one of their mass auditions, I used to religiously watch Deal or No Deal. Now as you may know they record three episodes a day in Bristol, but broadcast them as if they were a daily occurrence. Well one Monday Noel felt he should admit that the studio audience (the "pilgrims") were mainly employees of the production company as there was gridlock in Bristol City Centre and no-one could get to the studio. Fair enough. It can happen I suppose. But of course the next day Noel felt he had to say the same thing. "The traffic is still at a standstill here" he said, which - if you take these things at face value - seemed odd to still be a problem after 24 hours. Maybe some viewers with little experience of the world outside their homes (i.e. DOND fans) naively agreed that traffic jams can last such a long time. I had a mate who spent 11 hours on the M11 in the snow once after all. But on the third day as well it was "the streets of Bristol are still jammed up" which made me think that perhaps they DID record it daily and that the highways of Bristol WERE filling up with yet more cars hour after hour, day after day, being piled into giant towers of metal and stranded people. Each day cars, vans, lorries and bikes added to the mountain of vehicles, blocking out the sun in the West Country. The overwhelmed police had no choice but to helplessly allow more cars into Bristol, knowing that these doomed drivers would never again leave the town. However on Thursday there was no mention of it. The miracle had happened. Presumably with some sort of WALL-E platoon, the vehicular dystopia was removed overnight and normality was restored. So now the mystery has been solved. It was all about cycle lanes. I'm sorry I ever doubted your verisimilitude Noel. It shan't happen again you beautiful little man.
