Single or twin carbs?

Anyone looked in to motorcycle throttle bodies instead of carbs/original FI?

I know they are getting to be huge in the classic car racing scene - am wondering if anyone has had any success here?

  3. Interesting Moons. I may look into that. Ive a spare set of ducati 916 fi bodies. 2 off as its a twin. Bought by mistake as my 916sp has twin injectors per body as opposed to singles for a 916. I had a fuelling problem and bought a set to eliminate them as cause. Turned out to be an ecu problem, fixed with a Powermaster III.

Is EFI on a standard bus (1600tp) documented anywhere?

Don't know if anyone ever had original EFI on a 1600....

But I know a lot of classics have gone down this route - strikes me as a better solution than carbs - don't know of anyone that's done a bus - might be some racing beetles done though.

  6. I shall investigate this. Theres a plethora of bike efi info and installers, notably HM Racing which are quite near me and have done work on my bikes so I may pop round for a chat. Who knows, if it makes it more fuel efficient and reliable and is relatively cheap(ish) I may try it out.

  7. Mexi beetles have type 1 efi ;)

  10. Given that the Mexi Beetles moved to injection, you'd think some units would be around (although they'd be set up for a Beetle, not a van). Ditto the units in injected air-cooled Brazzy buses. But they're not.

There are the Megasquirt units, but it's a lot of faff to set them up.

  13. I run twin Weber 34ICTs. we are very happy with them but it does pay to get the better inlet manifolds and a good linkage. We went for the CSP carb linkage kit after trying a hex bar kit that was a pain to set up. Also you will then open the jetting can of worms. The empi manifolds are not that well made and also you have a battle when fitting a balance pipe. The dellorto manifolds have the correct holes pre drilled for a balance pipe and are also much better finished on the porting. Chat to Eurocarb.

  14. Happy to upload some pics if you want us to.

  15. good choice.

The bell linkage kit is brilliant
