I am pretty sure that I know the answer and that it is a very stupid thing to think but I have to ask as it is lurking at the back of mind. My van used to have the old devon swing out roof hammocks which had some vinyl, when the hammocks were pushed back the vinyl folds over the hammock and poppers on along the top on the roof. However the hammocks and vinyl are no longer there but the previous owner has put screws into all the holes along the roof where this vinyl would have poppered. I'm pretty sure the answer in no, but these screws don't help in holding the poptop roof on do they? :-[ :-[ You are allowed to laugh at me, I won't take offence ;D
