You have to be careful, never store the water you get out of the filter, and keep changing the filter and cleaning it. Because there is no chlorine in the filtered water , bacteria build up rapidly and you can get ill.

My father worked for water supply. He said if you can taste chlorine in tap water, it is usually because it is reacting with organic material in the system , which could even be in your own plumbing. Swimming pools stink because of human sweat and urine reacting..

And he also told a story of a family who kept becoming ill drinking their water. The investigation revealed they used a water filter and stored the output chlorine free filtered water in bacterially contaminated containers so it turned out it was their abuse of a water filter making them sick.

Epic voyage ! From boat hoist to temporary marina berth... 20240328_100520.jpg 20240328_102216.jpg Screenshot_20240328_105114_Firefox.jpg

It was blowing 30 knots in the marina, almost lost it as the mooring line was so tight when I got it on the cleat with the wind trying to blow the boat away and me just hanging onto the end locking it with friction.. Just across the river the sailing club weather station was recording gusts of 55 knots.

No, I was not picking up a mooring buoy single handed in that wind, last time I tried in 35 knots with a crew, the boathook bent and we had to let go then we hit the boat downwind..

  5. I took as a routine to completly empty it before refilling and wash it once a week. Filters are cleaned when they are clogged, as per instruction sheet. So far so good.
I noticed an odd thing lately. We have a basilic plant, the one you buy in supermarket who usually dies within 3 weeks. This one is from December and fully living and growing, I even had to trim it. I only water it using our filter, otherwise it would have been tap water. Even our cat now drink his water since I give him from the filter.

I drink tap water that's sat in my boat tank for up to 2 weeks. It only tastes/smells of chlorine immediately after filling the tank. No problem. Our pets wouldn't drink tap water until the chlorine had evaporated.

IMG_0425.jpeg Top cure for gout. Cherries and apple cider vinegar. Gout bought on by the chemicals in the Co-Codamol that I was taking for my sprained ankle, apparently. The cherries and vinegar helps to break down the sharp painful crystals formed by uric acid in the toe joint.

  9. Oooh it looks tender, :(

    i know it is..

I've had the odd flare up,

it's like someone has nailed my foot to the floor
    Bizarrely mine comes and goes,

maybe 3 times a year, but not too bad,
    no mediation,
change of diet made no difference so i eat everything,

i assume its down to kidneys not removing the uric acid at certain times,
especially as 90% of the population never suffer

New duck house we’ve put up :). We may have to cut the post down as the walk way looks a bit steep.

Flipping ducks nowhere to be seen since we’ve put it up !

16 square metres of a so called ceiling caulked ( 7 tubes ) and hand painted. Five hours including two trips to the DIY shop. Not bad for an old un

I have to keep this ceiling as much as I would love to rip it out as it’s made from some of the first machine moulded timbers apparently!
