  5. A word of advice, fit a hand rail on either side.

I once worked on a refurbishment of a hospital for which the designer only specified one handrail on one side of the corridors.
It eventually dawned that anyone with one-side disability would either have to reverse down the corridors, or be marooned once they got to their destination......

The hospital opened with a handrail on both sides of the corridors......

Bit of a white elephant, I think. It doesn't actually go anywhere...

  18. It's an odd thing. First saw it when I was swanning around the ExCel, wondered why they'd put it there, given that it's on the arse end of nowhere. Apparently TfL are quietly hoping a storm will blow it down "so we can get rid of it without losing face".

  19. Bit of both. There must be hundreds of them still around. Think it was originally designed in the 50s as an amp for electronic organs (using war-surplus valves). A company in Leeds used to make them in a large shed. RSC down the Edgeware Road used to sell them.

It's ultra-linear with tappings on the output transformers, so not much use as a guitar amp as it won't "crunch" properly. Known folk who've used them as a bass amp, but you're not going to shift much air with 30W. They're very hissy due to the EF86s they used in the preamp.

Might resurrect it sometime. Sadly, the EL34s have lost their vacuum over the years, and it'll need re-capping and a general rebuild.
