Interesting seeing your Dad's Safari bars, do you remember what he was driving or navigating in those days.
I helped out a for two years it was amazing. I did a route control on the escarpment near Naivasha.

 

Fifteen foot high ensete ventricosum coming along nicely.

 

He only did club events in a Peugeot 403. I believe the badge and bars were for marshalling, and maybe some pre-event organising. I remember going out to one of the route controls and I also remember my mum knitting a bobble hat for him, and one for me, when he did a night time route control; probably the notorious 1963 event when there were only 7 finishers.
