My wife just called. She's on the M62 and nearly in Rochdale. Unfortunately, she started in Leeds and is heading for Gainsborough. And she's low on petrol. :
Mrs Mabel once went to turn the car round (dont know why) and was gone for 30 minutes. She managed to pull off the drive, decided to go round the block but took a wrong turn and ended up heading into London on the A13. Its lucky she found her way home.
I'd like to say lots but I'm old enought to know I had better say nothing. Except perhaps, aren't ladies such considerate drivers.
Ahem. It's not just us wimmin. One of the blokes at work left Leeds to drive to a meeting in Crewe. 5 hours later he rang in....from Chelmsford :
My dad's 84 - he's been driving here for 25 years so he knows the way, but, the last 2 times he's got lost on the way and the way back.
When I lived in Leicester, the first time we ever went to Birmingham in a car, got to Birmingham absolutely fine, but on the way back, got to the end of the Aston Expressway and thought "Leicester's north of Birmingham, to get home I need the M6 northbound." I got nearly as far as Stafford before I realised my mistake.
