    Anyone seen the new advert??

Shell fuel save regular unleaded!!! What the hell is that all about?? Apparently the boffins have perfected the formula for gasoline but they don't actually tell us what it gives. 3 words: crock of turd.

Anyone want to try it and feed back with a report?

  2. Filled up with it today

    Bus worked

I filled the A3 up with fuel saver diesel for a while to see how it was..fuel consumption was reduced to below 50mpg..went back to Total regular diesel & were up around 53mpg

  5. SO lame!
Apparently, in 2007 Shell launched a "Fuelsave" campaign. The point was to teach people driving tips that conserve fuel. One of these tips was to buy Shell gasoline, simply because it has been formulated to be as efficient as possible. Which of course doesn't mean it's any more efficient than any other fuel, it's just as efficient as it can be.
People who followed ALL the tips, of course, got better mileage, proving Shell's list of tips effective.
By having added use Shell fuel
to that now proven list, they are now able to slap the word Fuelsaver on their pumps.
Now when the gullible unwashed masses see that on the pump they're going to assume Shell has added some powerful new magic to their fuel that will make it last longer.
Anyway, that sure is what it sounds like to me after reading the dim and foggy explanation on their website.
Personally, I consider it a cheap and insulting gimmick. I'm glad I buy my fuel elsewhere.

i buy mine from the nearest garage to me. saving what ammounts to a maximum of £1 a fill up by driving further to queue up and think it's saving me money is stupid.
example £134.9 a litre at tesco 9 mile away which is cheapest, vs £136.9 at the local garage about half mile away equals 2p a litre dearer but even if i buy 50 litres it's only £1 dearer and i don't have to go miles and waste fuel getting there and waste time in the process.

  7. wont be long till its £1.50 p/l :(

  8. Shell and tesco fuel is cheap because it's the dregs from the bottom of the tanker. I never buy from either.

I'll pay the extra and use BP, you know it's good fuel, your helping the British economy.

i always try to use shell, yes the fuelsave thing is an advertising ploy, but who cares. i get my aimiles so i'm happy!

  11. At the end of the day it's petrol and thats what I need to run my bus.

I buy fuel from anywhere at whatever price.

    I'm so gullible.

  12. I was told that BP's stuff is the best, and to avoid any supermarket stuff and this was based on bench engines running non stop for 10k miles and then stripped down and wear and tear measured to 0000000000.00000000 etc mm (you get the picture).

It was clearly shown that good petrol was better for the engines. I think the independent engineering company that does these measurements are based near Goodwood if anyone wants to contact them and verify their findings.

Just my 2p worth, and my bus only gets decent petrol now.

  13. I put petrol in mine whenever I can. Worried about engine wear? Use the cheapest oil you can get (Wilkinson's?) and half your oil change mileage...
    Cheers
