  1. Got the engine out at the moment and theres a small amount of gearbox oil in the bell houseing so im presumeing its the input shaft seal are these fairly simple to replace and any tips tricks to changeing it , im hopeing its not a gearbox out jobbie ?

  2. Does it smell like gear oil or engine oil?

    Gearbox oil stinks

  3. yeah deff gearbox oil , bit whiffy plus the flywheel side is dry as a bone

  4. Take the release bearing holder off, screw two self-tappers into the flat part of the seal and use molies to yank it out. I used a length of plastic waste pipe to drift the new seal in. Fairly easy job.

  5. Nice one will give that a go ;D

  8. With the engine out I used it as a good opportunity to clean up the whole gearbox. Removing the box is a 20 minute job, good chance to clean out all the old oil and inspect its innards. I took the bell housing off and scrubbed it all clean, inside and out, and replaced the input shaft seals and the selector seals too then refilled with fresh oil when it was out of the van - you save 2 hours by doing this alone and it's so much cleaner not to get gunked up in used gear oil

Heritage I think. They're weren't cheap, and I had to make a drift to install it. It worked a treat
