A) No B) Nothing, apart from more stuff to break. Get a decent German fan belt (or ffan belt if you live in Wales).
I have one on my old beetle. It looks nice! Apart from that, it’s easier to adjust the tension than the shims. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks mate! It was until the bonnet parted company with it and bounced down the A12! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They are supposed to keep the tension on the belt better at high rpm compared to the standard set up I’ve heard from a few people that the bearings they are fitted with don’t last long.
My engine builder reckoned they were ok, but I will go along with what others have said and that you can’t go wrong with stock. As you can tell, mine was as much about looks as function, but the belts are like the modern ribbed ones you get on new cars. Essentially it’s like the accessory belt on a water cooled car. I had nothing but trouble with mine. Back to stock and all good. Oscar from here even wire cut an oil spiral from an OG pulley for me which I had fitted to the serpentine pulley.
The stock fanbelt is actually designed to slip at high rpm to keep the fan in the best operating zone.
I've fitted to mine a. Looks good b. Works well with my twin dell's Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
Cleverly set up to not have high tension. Expect to lose the anodizing in the bottom pulley after a while .. But thats how its meant to be.
