Self-tapping screw sizes

  1. never seen or used aluminium ones . They have all been plated steel ones, you could just tap out the chassis M6 or M8
     
  2. Tried that down the front. Not really enough meat in the chassis members to tap a decent thread. Ended up with a rivnut in it.

  3. So, my front belly panel is held on by 6 Acme screws 3 at back, 2 at sides and one at front. No evidence of captive nuts or whatnot. 3 of them are No14 (10mm hex head 6.3mm shaft) and 3 are the larger size with a 13mm head. I would guess that these are a No16, but this doesn't seem to exist. Surely someone in here knows where to get these?
    Rivnuts seem to be an expensive and time consuming alternative.[​IMG]
