Scene tax! lol

Been after some headlight grills.....all the usual suspects ranged from 25 quid to 40+.
ordered from a custom bike site in the end....same 7 inch grille but not sold as vw fitment.....12 quid delivered for a pair! Lol anyone else losing patience with paying premium prices for cheap goods purely because its for an old Volkswagen? Coz I sure am lol

 

Not really. i do however resent buying stuff that isnt fit for purpose at any price. But i do love the phrase "show chrome".

 

is that the same stuff as 'sunny climate' chrome, which is a euphemism for 'we shouldn't really sell this item in the UK, since it'll rust to nothing in about the time it takes to reach you but if you're stupid enough to buy it we'll gladly take your money'

 

German Quality is my favourite. Totally meaningless sales twaddle.

If I wanted a German sausage id buy one that said made in Germany not a 'German quality' lookalike. Lol

My scene tax bugbear is bolts and nuts sold on the various VW supplier websites, now I just buy from some where else.

 

I got a cap and a rotor and they both lasted 12 months before they Failed. Push rod oil seals. 6 months and they have all perished. The quality of so many things is substandard and we are all expected to believe it's worth the money :-(

 

I think we should have a name and shame thread for vw tat. I've had some shocking rubbish recently. Not sure if the mods would allow it?

 

To me it means 'this item is the quality that all the other stuff should be, but since the other stuff is bobbins and we both know it we'll add on another thirty quid for this one' ......or sixy if it has Westfalia associations lol

I want a set for my headlamps and I'm hoping a set will fit my spot lights as they are the same diameter

 

looked identical in the picture and dimensions, clips etc were the same so should fit they do 5 inch ones as well

 

It would be @dog or @hailfrank who'd make a call on something like that. I don't really see why not - as long as it's factual and substantiated, but I don't know what the legal implications might be.

I can't see Tha there can be any legal implications to saying a product is carp, provided its been used in accordance with its designed purpose, and the claim is supported by evidence of why its no good. Surely a large part of the point of a forum is to share advice and information and this would be a logical extension of that concept.
we already have a section for reviewing stuff, so it would only need a hall of shame added on to that
