December 2015 EDIT: Not much achieved, sadly. Had to re-post some pictures, photobucket issue. I thought I had started a readers ride on mine, sure I did, cant find it. Anyway...........here's ZIPPY, a 1973 Devon with a 1600tp. Pretty original. Had this Bay since 2006, long story short - no work no play, sat in a garage since around 2007 with the odd start up. 2010 pulled it out, it started but badly, fuel pump shot to bits, leaking every where. I don't plan on making it a show winner or really well done Bus. A good, strong, clean, mechanically sound usable camper van will be just awesome to me 2006 2010
Kank (on here) has had my Bus for over a week and he has been working very hard, I'm really pleased but also a feeling of concern as its a bit like a lucky dip not knowing what you find. Well impressed so far and I know Kank will do an awesome job, thank you Dude. He also takes all the shots and email/texts/photobuckets them all over
Blasting Die Past (kank) ....has sent me a few more shots of the progress I'm sure I'll upload some more over the next 4-6 weeks Just need to think of a colour now, 2 tone or 1 colour
Seems as though some monkey has bodged No.3 thread so the plug wont stay in when fired up, so I have ordered 2 new heads, barrels, pistons, rocker covers and all the bits needed to rebuild the engine which Kank is got sorted. Engine wont start because the carb is duff! I bought a new EMPI pict 34-3 but that wont work at all, strange. So drove in rush hour to Dagenham from Slough to pick up a rebuilt solex Pict 34-3 to then drive to Bristol and get it fitted. Job done, all set up by Kank and his friend.
The bus has had so far. Rebuilt engine with rebuilt carb
Picked up the bus from Bristol and had a very cold drive home haha Needed to adjust the clutch as 1st and 2nd gear got up and walked off Been driving about like this
As it sits today 14/04/2013, gonna start prepping for paint now the weather is picking up, hopefully ready for summer time. Also have a tracker/alarm to fit, plus standard wheels once they have been powder coated.
What I am aiming for but a Late Bay Blue up to the gutter then a white roof, most likely black standard steels (post below may not correspond as I changed the picture slightly)
Should look great - my old bay looked much like that - Neptune Blue up to the gutter then white roof. What shade of blue have you decided on?
I think sea blue is my favourite blue so far, I do like Ford Olympic blue but feel I want the darker blue for a harder look
that looks great dude! the underside is looking particularly fine hopefully ine will look like that one day!!
Cheers dude, I spent the money and got someone else to do it as I knew I couldn't at home. Glad I did. The underside should be good for many years Good luck with yours buddy
Looking good now, all the rusty bits were in the usual places! Sea blue is a very poor choice of colour too. Apparently Jaffa is the best colour!
Very close Dean, just prep, paint, put back together really. Im sure there will be some snags but its all legal so I know the running gear is ok. Oh and standard wheels need rubber. Once the hotter weather is here (hopefully) I will be working on it non stop until its done. I have to paint it outside, had paint jobs done outside before and all were ok, just this is much bigger.
Quick update, not been doing too much, been super busy with health stuff. Sorted the stuck flap on the air filter Washed the inside of the bus, it was filthy - vvvvv that dirty water Cleaned the roof Painted the floor, just one coat, needs another Next is to paint the bus, not looking forward to this.
