Rusty T25 Dilemma advice please

  1. Good luck with this dilemma !,,
From my point of view there are still some very nice T25’s around for very little money but you have to look in the less obvious places, not all camper owners are members of clubs and subsequently the value they put on their vehicle does not reflect the VW scene tax, I have been lucky enough to have purchased recently two practically rust free buses recently, one a Dehler and the other. Holdsworth, both I have sold for different reasons.
In my humble opinion sell your sons bus and help him find a rust free example when he has somewhere of his own to store it and the dedication and funds to maintain it

I think you’re better off keeping your cash @mgbman . In my opinion your son is old enough to realise that he’s not got the time/desire to sort his van so it will just be neglected again. If he needs help with finances you could save the cash until his daily or golf break down.

Are the 1.9s really badly underpowered? I’ve only had the 2.5tdis but seen a cheap 1.9 locally I like the look of.

  4. As much as I didn't mind it they are very sluggish and if your used to 2.5tdi you would notice it even more so. Maybe go test drive it and have a chuckle
I used mine as a daily for 18 months but I did turn the injection pump up slightly with made quite Abit of difference

The Td isn’t too bad @Merlin Cat

As said above, you can get about 30% more power out of it without spending money. I use mine as a daily work hack, and it’s fine. Leaks oil in true vw fashion, buts it’s dead reliable.
