Rust help

  1. Good evening, sorry for all the questions but i have a few patches on otherwise fairly reasonable paintwork similar to this below; what is the best intermediate solution to either slow down or stall this? is the only option to cut it out? if so what would the ball park figures be for this to be done? Many thanks in advance

  2. The rust will be worse under the paint, and likely you will have a few small holes once you get the paint off. When you see rust bubbles, its usually because the rust has started from the other side of the panel.

If you wanted to patch things up, the front panel looks do-able, but the gutters will probably need some new metal. Not sure on prices as I did all my own work.

You will only ever slow rust down :( best option is to get the areas back to bare metal with a wire brush drill attachment, or similar on a grinder. treat the area with a rust killer/encapsulater, and then get paint on straight away.....filling or fibre glassing if needed. But that is only a short term fix, if you have holes, welding in new metal is the only real option.

I'd suggest cavity waxing the rest of the van to slow down any chance of rust in other areas
