Travelling back down the m6 from Glasgow yesterday in my truck i was overtaken by a little citreon with a bike rack and 3 bikes stood strapped to it , blimey they look precarious i thought - just as the whole roofrack came adrift and the lot fell off bounced on the wheels and came heading straight for my cab windscreen at 60mph -- sh-- , i anchored up swerved and they just clipped the lorry and spread all over the motorway -

Luckily no one was injured so we picked em up chucked them in my lorry before old bill spotted it and sent him to merry hell and i met him at the next services , he came looked took one bike back and told me to keep the other two and off he went - no thanks you saved my licence and no sorry i nearly caused a nasty accident nothing .

i do have two slightly damaged new bikes and a bent thule bike roofrack in my garage now though - :(

  3. I bet that was a scary moment. Glad you were ok.
Don't understand why the guy was such an a**e though, seems to me that you saved him a shed load of trouble. Get the bikes on eBay. They are free listing this weekend :) You might sell them then at least your troubles will be rewarded. Good luck.

  10. I reckon 2 of those 3 thule racks are salvageable, maybe you could ebay it.

Not sure of those bikes though - that small one looks like it has bent at the pivot point of the rear suspension :(

  11. Agree with bay Birmingham that frame looks bent but I reckon it could still be sold for parts as both bikes look in otherwise good condition.
Another thought. I'm sure there is a charity that takes bikes and repairs for disadvantaged children. If not a local kids charity might have some ideas.
If you go this route let me know as Karma will be coming your way.

  18. you could always say they fell of a lorry it wouldnt be far off the truth

  19. Glad ya miss them, here in Colorado there's bloody 'cyclist' everywhere,we have this law called 'share the road'-which means we have to give them 3ft/a meter room as we pass,Alot good that does when the :censored: weave in out of their lane of traffic!
some days i just wanna close my eyes & take aim,but seriously i think there should be a law stating-They should look in a FULL leghth mirror before leaving the house!
I see plenty of vehicles with 2-4 bicycles strapped to them with only 1 person in the vehicle most are locked with just the front axle all a while the rear is jiggling around (i like watching a good jiggling rear >:D)
    but not on a car/van!
i say give them to some one who repain them for children,
