Shocker of a night's sleep also, but nothing as exciting as a bat in the house! I did get up to go to the loo, only to return to find the ruddy dog had invaded and was making himself comfortable in the warm patch I had momentarily vacated. Luckily he also thought it was way too hot and humid, and quickly departed back to the cool floor in the kitchen. Good skills with the bat rescue @Merlin Cat
Amazing skies. Lots of flooding, some villages were cut off, cars submerged etc, scary stuff. I lost power but that's the extent of it.
We've been kept up for a few in a row now.....crazy storms in Derbyshire.......oh and our central heating circulatory pump has decided it doesn't want to turn off, and has been running constantly! Resorted to disconnecting it in the end.....at least no-one can run the central heating for a while til i investigate.
Could be the boiler. If the pump over run has gone screwy. Could be on a gravity hot water/pumped CH and the ch side has gone live causing the pump to run continuously, but the hot water side that’s used as the boiler live isn’t energised. So the pump runs but the boiler doesn’t. Or your house is haunted, which I’ve had on at least three occasions. Much trickier to nail the fault down when it’s poltergeist activity.
Just spotted this but had a reasonable night last despite Mrs Ozziedog having the bliss on because a certain sixty four year old male who at this point shall remain nameless doesn’t wish to entertain taking on another mortgage or moving to a smaller house with no garage Just as well because the night before when you was bat training and stuff, we was up until at least four with some yooofy types shouting and bawling and arguing until those tiny hours, turns out some had just got their results and decided to keep the working classes awake just to remind them what it’s like to be young. Lots of litter down our turning circle in the morning including empty cans and gas cylinders etc etc. Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,, but not a single storm or a bat
Still no rain or storms, although I did see what could have been a flash of lightening when I took the dog out last thing. Maybe wishful thinking, but it seems less humid anyway, and actually got 5 hours continuous sleep last night. Hurrah!
Thanks. Its a Grundfos pump, and an archaic mistral oil boiler. Its due a service too. The boiler runs ok, but little hot water is getting to the radiators; only the first 2 or 3 actually warm up. All is good for a few months though, we've got a leccy immersion for hot water, so we can cope without central heating til, oh at least December!!! ;-)
Ok so you can discount it being the pump over run cos a mistral oil boiler doesn’t have one. Somethings definitely not right. Cos if your pump is running all the time then all the rads should be hot. What you are describing is what I’d expect if you had a failed water pump and just the first couple of rads are heating due to gravity circulation. it might be running all the time because it’s taking for ever to heat the cylinder because it’s not circulating the water from the boiler effectively. Ie a knackered pump. hit the pump several times. Hard. With a hammer.
Ah, the old "visiting air con engineer lady", eh ? I thought Rough Mandy didn't work Thursday nights?
