Rubber cab mats or madmatz carpet style?

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by 75swampy, May 28, 2014.

  1. Hi what's everyone's preference?
Rubber floor mats for the cab or the madmatz carpet style mats??

I had considered cleaning , Adding hammerite & putting silent coat sound deadening under my rubber mats in the cab then I spotted the carpet style mats and wondered if they were any good?? Anyone got them?

I don't really want to stick the silent coat to the floor if I don't have to.

Any advice would be great. :)

  2. I have madmatz carpet and their sound deadening underneath on cab floor and walkthrough. Normal rubber mats on wheel arches. Now I can hear the wind better

I've got rubber mats in the pickup at the moment, carpet in the van. The rubber tends to be a bit slippery with wet boots - going to change it soon.

  4. Is it worth leaning the rubber mats down with the carpet on top? My rubber mats are in great condition but like you say they are slippy and give the cab a cold feeling.

What colours did yous go for?

  5. You wont like my approach i dont think
Its cheap as chips though and more than fit for purpose
Id hate to accidently stand in dog doo then get it into those madmats
Cleaning it up would be a pain in the ass where as i could just give mine a scrub and wash it out with a hose

  7. I bought a carpet set of ebay, black with a silver flec, looks great quality, banded edges, and is bleach cleanable

That's exactly what we have done in the westy, I will say they are very hard wearing and quite easy to clean

  11. Always trying to save a penny. Is it possible to use the rubber mats as a template, cut carpet to size and put a trim around the edge of the carpet?
    Too much hassle maybe eh?

  12. Mine are Madmatz in a dark colour. It's hard wearing stuff and even if I got @paradox's dog poo on them, I reckon they would hose off easily enough and dry on the washing line.

  13. Yes I have them, it does seem to be decent quality hessian backed stain free carpet, but to size and edge banded but it was a full carpet set for £160 which was cab mat, walk through, seat tubs and sides.
Got to pick the colour as well, will get some pics when fitted

  14. They sound great:thumbsup:

Its the coir ones made from cocconut fibre that i worry about with dog poo
We had a coir mat at the back door and once dog poop got in that it took the pressure washer to get it all out

  15. Rubber for me!

  16. Total encasement or do you let your belly button be freeview?

  17. I have mad matz and they look great and fit really well,

The issue of dog poo that paradox brought up is a real one IMHO so as you can see I actually took one of the plastic office squares that you can buy to place your office chair on when the office floor is carpeted! Mark at mad matz uses a template machine and cuts the hessian to shape then edges the piece of hessian! He very kindly cut my plastic mat out in the same shape so I was able to simply place it over the top of the hessian on the floor so keep it all clean! :)
