rotor arm cut out ?

  1. What's the reason for the rotor arm that cuts out at 4500 revs is it to stop the engine over revving

  4. You can get different ones. 4500, 5200, 5400. Maybe more, that's all I know. Apparently they are notoriously bad though. They cut out fine but make timing an issue.

  5. Sounds like something I could manage without

  6. Just how fast should a stock 1600 be revved to? I never run mine past 4000,.

On some engines it's needed. I'd also recommend them to anyone who rents or lets other use their bus.

  8. The more gently you treat your T2 engine, the longer it will last. Forget rev limiters, forget rev counters. Just listen and FEEL

  9. You can manage without one. Pretty crude, and they just introduce another potential point of failure in the ignition system.

    If you engine's revving at 5 and a half k, you'll know it ;)

One of the customers of the paint shop was telling me about one of their rental customers whom they had said "no going over 60" or something like that and then having him say on his return how he'd gone over 70!!

For us who own, cherish and love them, (that should read: pays the bills) we have a feel and a knowing of what the engine is doing. Sadly for the not so out there they do not. Or your name is VWOlive  She knows why she is mentioned here.

  11. Excuuuseee Me Mr Birdy  Laugh out Load and Lots of Love ........

I like Molteni Mike I am very gentle with Olive and Love her loads and I did listen to her & brought her to you for TLC. :) --- I was scared tho on the way home when I hit 72 miles hour - I calmed down and we stuck to our nice relaxed 55 :p

All I will say Madam VWOlive is 3 words; Brighton Breeze 2010.

Barry still wears a spot of oil or three on his face.

  13. In 110,00o miles I have only hit the limiter on a handful of times....................maybe thats why the original engine is still fitted!

  14. I rely on pieces of magnesium flying into the cab to remind me that I'm over revving :)

Seriously, if you've got a rev counter, you'll see how rarely you stray into the danger zone.
