  1. Hi there , having a problem with the rockers ,having done some work on the engine and offering the rockers back up basically trying to set the valve clearances all of the inlet valves wont adjust , as in even with the lock screw backed right off the actual rocker arm is pushing the valve spring very slightly , i had this problem a few years back when i put new heads on the engine and carnt think for the life of me what it was ????? all the exhaust valves can be adjusted with no probs it just the inlet ones on all of the cylinders , ( and yes i am turning the engine to the appropriate place lol )
Any idea's if you please that may jog my memory to what it was last time had this problem :)

  2. you do one pair at a time. How have you got the exhaust valves sorted if you haven't done the inlet?. Start at number 1 and work your way around. I prefer to start at one and then staying on the same side do the anti-clockwise method. if you're type 4...

  6. I think you've got slightly out of synch. Can be a pain knowing where to start if you've had everything including the heads off - this seriously confused me when I had both heads off.

I'd start by actually removing all the adjuster screws and trying to find ignition TDC for no 1 by cranking and watching the rockers and dissy position.

  7. will try what you said ! but i fairly sure im at TDC as i can clearly see the number 1 i wrote on the piston down the spark plug hole when i put those back in ! also have put a pencil down the hole and felt for the top of the stroke .
Will have another look tomoz may have a clearer head tomoz after swearing at it for an hour

  11. just posted on your other thread. You're going about it all arse backwards and you'll not get things right the way you're trying to do things. Carry on and you'll likely get things bent
    :)

  12. Been thinking about this while I was tootling up the A303 in me van...

Take your rocker shafts off so they're not in the way. Rotate the crank to the TDC mark. Check that both pushrods on no 1 are at their shortest length. If the exhaust rod is sticking up, turn the engine another 360*. That's your starting point. Rocker shafts on, do tappets :).

  13. Thanks for all the replies ! ^^^^^^ just me rushing stuff again while ive got a bit of time off work ! will have my thinking head on tomoz and slow down and work through stuff a bit more methodical !! :buttkick:
