Ah this has made me very sad today.....Private Pike, Ian Lavender has gone to join the rest of the home guard ready to fend off jerry in heaven. RIP.
On the rare occasion that I go somewhere like Starbucks where they ask your name for the order, I always give my name as Pike. The staff don't get it, either they are too young to have ever seen Dad's Army, or some smartarse pensioner does it every day. RIP, stupid boy.
I hope he's wearing his scarf up there and doesn't catch a cold, his Mum wouldn't stand for it. RIP Ian Lavender
Rip ian, A great bunch of people... They will carry on entertaining people for ever. I've e seen every episode.. And they are still funny when you see them. again..
Timeless innocent comedy and "don't tell him Pike" was indeed a key character . Loved the series as I grew up and seen them all many times but still makes me laugh... RIP Ian lavender. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
RIP .My Dad will be gutted ! he still laughs aloud when he watches the repeats . Was he the last one alive from the series ?
Yes, last man standing... Bbc4 showed the German prisoners episode tonight Jones had a grenade put in his trousers..
Finally solved the question about his scarf - the claret and blue colours were a nod to Aston Villa from his Birmingham origins.
