This is a link to the rear torsion beam fix , i know it has helped a few and a few earlybay owners because they have contacted me
about it , it may help someone else so --

Good post Malc sumarising most of the work, and the ups and downs that seem par for the course when doing an involved resto.

I never thought I'd still be doing mine 2 1/2 years later, then theres been times I've wanted to sell it, burn it, or just walk away from it, but somehow, and probably reading other peoples resto threads here, I've realised I'm not alone!

Well done mate on getting through it and back on road, Now I've broken the back of the work on mine I'm also really looking forward to the day I can go and get my tax disc!

    K+

soz for the repeat post but its for my reference

Thanks to Olnow sending me a silver socket i now have a flexi light fitted , here is how i did it --

Firstly the hole was smaller than the socket Olnow sent me - thus

    So i made it bigger

    with these

And fitted the socket like this

i pre wired it before sitting it in the hole with spade ends connected to the socket that i took a wire to both positive and earth although the body of the socket earthed itself to the dash when tightened without need for a wired earth .

The fake westy light that i got off ebay for 99p + £3 pp

    lights the glove box

    and the parcel shelf

i am quite pleased with the result although as woody said the bulb is a little dim in the light and the plug is not quite as tight as i would like it , so a few adjustments are in order - still not bad for a total outlay of £6.69 .

  8. I see the essential gloves wrapped around the handbrake... ;D

Nice light, I have one of the wedge ,I think it was original...
