reversing light- is it needed for MOT?

Hi all,
just read that reversing lights not neede for m.o.t ..... is this true...or is it just for certain years.

 

No, reversing lights are never needed for the MOT.

Because Y has a long tail.

 

actually it may be because it is not classed as a warning lamp to others? are they not normally there to help you see when you put it into reverse?
