Reverse Gear Cog Replacement

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Oxide Devil, May 28, 2013.

  1. Hi Every1,

just wondering if any1 has tried this?

I have a CM box with a blown reverse gear and have seen that Heritage are selling reverse gear cogs for all the main gearbox types.

Is it as simple as it sounds? Or is there allot more involved?

I have no worries stripping the box, but I am not going to bother if it is a nightmare and then needs a Pro to sort it out.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

  2. Plus the Cog is £65

  3. What's actually the matter with the box? If you can't get reverse, is the selector working properly?

  4. only get a grinding noise at the biting point, even with the stick held in reverse.

Also tried adjusting the plate under the stick and there is no cracks or splits in it. Looks ok.

Got the Mrs to sit in it and put it in and out of reverse. Seems to be selecting ok.

All other gears are fine. Drive across Europe with no reverse, but it is MOT time.
