Does anyone have a rev counter, preferably VDO, that fits in the right hand pod in a standard dash? I think it would be 80mm - is that right? The type that just needs a feed from the coil.
@Mark Darby There was someone on earlybay that made them I think Maybe @Ozziedog or @monkeyvanwestybike maybe to assist
There certainly was, but as far as I know, he doesn’t make them anymore. His user name was Aspro and he was another displaced Melbournite. If you trawl through the thread over on the E.A.R.L.Y.B.A.Y. You’ll also find that someone else had started to make them and may still be making them now. Might also be worth popping a wanted add over there on the Early site in the for sale bit. Lots of those owners have a bit of a habit of buying stuff and leaving it stored in the garage. Ozziedog,,,,, yes ,,, me included or maybe the main offender
VWH sell rev counters in the style to match the existing gauges - https://www.vwheritage.com/ac957041...meter-6000rpm-dashboard-mounted-grey-vw-spare VDO rev counters are also available but they don’t match. A late MGB rev counter also fits and works with points or electronic ignition and is available second-hand for a few quid from MG breakers and parts sellers.

Do we get TLB discount at JK ? I get 10% for being a member of my local VW club. I don’t even have to ask. It’s done automatically at checkout. Deffo worth it for a part this expensive. Stirlingmoz
Blimey! Didn't know this - I've spent a fortune there in the last 6 months too. Think I'll give them a call.
You could always join SACOC - Surrey Air Cooled Owners Club. Membership is a measly £8 per annum and we are all eligible for 10% discount at JK. Club sec negotiated it. If you joined our club and bought the tach you would still be in profit ; - ) Stirlingmoz
Sounds like a plan! I'll see what they say when I call. Have to be next week as I'm on my son's stag weekend from tomorrow!
