Rendlesham Forest Camping

  1. Just spent the weekend here http://www.forestcamping.co.uk/index.php

About 30ish pitches most with electric hook ups and all the pitches on the outside back onto the forest. Well stocked shop on site as well as play area for the kids and the central part of the site is left open to grass for the younglins to run around. Rendlesham Forest surrounds the site and there are plenty of walking and biking trails including the 3 mile UFO trail. The forest itself is pretty samey - its all lined pine trees as its a working forest.

Toilets are clean and plentiful for the site - the showers are 50p coin operated but you appear to have to come out to recoin if the shower if it runs out half way through.....

There are no pubs within stumbling distance - the nearest is in Hollesley which is three miles through forest so you either need to bring in your own or bring a bike.

Its 12 miles from Aldeburgh which is where we spent Sunday.

Tip - pitch 28 is on a slope - don't park nose in and open the rear door as your cool box full of glasses and eggs WILL definitely fall out resulting in a 30 minute clean up to remove all shards of glass from around your rear wheels.

    S1mon and CollyP like this.
  2. This used to be a great site we first went 7 years ago however returned a couple of years later and it seemed to have gone down hill a tad :(

  3. Going here tonight, son's birthday, six boys two dads, wish me luck.

  4. What a great weekend we've had. The site was only a third full if that. The new showers are very nice, still 50p. The office allowed my mate to use their computer couldn't have been more helpful.

Bit of noise last night til 2. There were a couple of groups there.

Kids went to the laser battlefield thing in the woods next door for two hrs. £15 each, looked like fun.

    Back again at half term.

  5. Another 3 night break this week. Site was full but not a problem. If you go make sure you explore the woods over the road for timber climbing frames, low level zip wire and climbing wall.

Again there were groups ignoring the ten o clock limit for noise but I couldn't hear them in the van.

That's it for Rendlesham for us, next camp at Thetford CCC.

  6. Been there twice this year, as above great site, although surprisingly the same price for the pitches with and without hook up. Facilities are good but shower cubicles are a tad small for undressing apart from the corner one. Plenty of walks in the forest and Tuesdays they do fire training at RAF Woodbridge with a few planes flying in and out. The Kings Head in Orford does good food at a reasonable cost.
