Removing birch ply roof?

Discussion in 'Camper Conversions' started by seanlithman, Feb 2, 2016.

  1. hi I'm stripping out my westy interior prior to restoration and repaint. What is the best way to remove the ply roof without damaging it? Are the joining strips just pressed in or are they made to stay in place so would be damages if you try to pry them out?
Any advise or photos would be great. Thanks

Take inner seal off around toptop hole, the joiny bit are loose and will slide out, then the small bits of ply will lift out if they don't fall out.

  3. Hi,

I am about to do the same thing as seanlthman.
Will you be able to use the seals again once done with the work? Or do you need new ones?

    Cheers,

Yes they shouldn't get damaged removing them and the inners are not available AFAIK.

  9. Just note that where the rear joint is above the head-banger cupboard ie the one that goes all the way across may be stapled at the rear (ie on the top, the bit you cant see. You will damage it if you try to prise it out.

  10. Thanks for the advise it came out easily found a nice mouse nest in there!
