  1. It’s with a heavy heart that I’ve decided to sell my 1973 Kombi project. I purchased the bus from FBI VW in Swansea earlier this year. The plan was to carry out a complete restoration over a number of years. I hadn’t quite realised how involved the process was going to be (well I probably did but chose to ignore it:)). The bus is a LHD import from California with all paperwork including registration papers and the NOVA submission required to register with the DVLA once it has an MOT.

This is a walk through model ideal for camper conversion. Virtually rust free, just a couple of very minor spots (see photos). The vehicle is really superb underneath and has all original outriggers, jacking points, floors etc. 1700cc twin carb engine starts and runs but needs a new air box. I do have a set of Webber ICT 34 Carbs with CB Linkage available for £425.00 if required.
A really good base vehicle that will make a good and easy project. The type of base that can turn into a superb finished vehicle.

I have a file of pictures here:

As you will see, the majority of the photos in the link are from before I started stripping down the bus ready for paint.
The following work has been done over the last few weeks: -

    Front Suspension/Brakes
    1. New Boge shock absorbers.
    2. New discs, calipers and pads.
    3. New roll bar bushes (yet to be fitted but supplied).
    4. New ball joint rubbers.
    5. New wheel bearings.
    6. New brake hoses.
    7. New grease caps.

    Rear Suspension/Brakes
    1. New Boge shock absorbers.
    2. New drums and pads.
    3. New spring plate bushes.
    4. New CV joints & Rubber Boots.
    5. New wheel bearings.
    6. New handbrake cables.
    7. New brake hoses.
    8. New hex nuts.

The receipts for the parts alone are in excess of £1,000. They are all quality German replacement parts and made to last. No cheap stuff here.

Other original items supplied are: -
    - 2x Original Front Seats (will need to be re-upholstered)
    - Original Front Bumper
    - Box of spare parts i.e. nuts and bolts and some interior parts
    - All Glass (front, side and rear)
    - No interior is included within the sale

If you are looking for a restoration project which needs no welding and most of the parts supplied, this is an ideal starting point. It’s a good, solid bus which is what you need when looking at a bottom up restoration.

    Price - £6,495.00 (no offers)

NB I still have some work to finish off the rear suspension and hope to have this complete in the next couple of weeks. If you would prefer you can do this yourself or wait until I have completed. Any questions, please drop me a PM. I'm based in Chorley, Lancashire.
