    Can anyone recommend the best cab bunk you can get? Im aware JK do one but just wondering if anyone would recommend any others?
    Thought there might be ones that offer coloured canvas to suit your van and maybe a storing bag?

  2. I know Blue Bird customs do one but don't think they are different colours.I think you can buy just the poles from some places.Prob' is I am sure they are sold as genuine Westfalia $$ .Then get someone to put together the canvas in a colour that you want.

    Its not essencial about the colour. Guess I would like to find the best quality (and looking) bunk. My van is a Devon just for info.

  4. I am sure the new Blue Bird ones now slot into holes drilled into the door frame and window frame.I personally prefer the ones with brackets as they look tidier and also if they are attached to the doors then it is added security when in use as the doors cannot be opened due to the poles.We are thinking of getting one for one of the three dogs to use at night and will also be useful when our niece wants to camp with us.

    Thanks for the info. Are the bluebird ones the best quality and nicest looking?

  6. I have one of these;

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/German-Qu...Parts_SM&fits=Car Make:VW&hash=item256c2744b2

    The canvas is great (heavy)quality, and is a 1970's Tan colour which suits our van. The poles which are in two pieces and therefore slide into each other and are box section...very strong! It came with fittings but I already had the brackets fitted on my Westy and the poles fit these.

    Very pleased with it and has been used regularly by both my girls.

  7. I just noticed if you go to the website;

    http://nlavw.com/gb/20-interior

    ..and spend £50 it's free delivery. Ebay list it as £8.40. The bunk is £49 so spend a pound on something and save £7.40!

  9. No idea! I've never used a JK one. It's the same price and the canvas and poles are excellent quality. The canvas is also a tan colour rather than white which I think is more practical and in keeping with the rest of the interior of the van. I don't know if the JK poles are in two pieces but this makes it really easy to store. The two parts slide inside each other. If the poles are one piece I imagine it'd be much tricker to store them!

    Thanks Karl :)
    Can anyone else shed any light if they are better than the JK ones?

  11. I got the bluebird one and it's good but I already had holes the others o have seen just bolt on the pillars

  12. For the record, I've also got a genuine Devon bunk for my other van. This has round poles which dismantle and fits into holes in the A and B pillar. The parts that fit into the holes slide out and secure with wing nuts. The canvas is a gingham pattern. It's pretty fiddly compared to this (westfalia style) one.

    You might already have the holes in your A and B pillars if your van is a Devon?

    I've got the westy one with telescopic poles that clip into the brackets on the pillars, trouble is you have to take the seat head rests off to use it and if you do use it then the captains seat is out of use, so be aware of that if you have either.....

  14. I'd find out if the JK poles are one or two pieces. This would be the clincher for me.

    According to their site it packs down to 9 x 144cm so it looks like the poles are 1 piece (which will be a pain in the ass)

  16. Tell me about it! My old van had Saab seats (not any more!) and I had to take them out to fit the bunk! PITA! Low back OG seats...much nicer and easier!

  17. If you google 'Just Kampers Cab Bunk' they don't have a very good rep!

    Anyhow....enough of this...I have a house to paint!

  18. Not too sure about this but the JK one says max weight 40 kg and the other says 70 kg so seems like it must be better quality ?
