    Hi.
Found the old carb from my van, tucked away in a box. I’d there anyway rebuild kits for it?
Nice little ‘winter bench project’ for me.

Ok. Found some. Do the butterfly Valve pivots need replacing?

Generally only if the throttle shaft rattles around noticeably. You could amuse yourself with a dial indicator and compare the play up and down with forward and backwards... if its about the same it hasnt been worn out by pulling it backwards and forwards.

I dont know what the number should be for unworn.. 0.2mm ?

  6. Only if you can feel noticeable play. The refurb kits are of variable quality. Try and get a German one (and reuse as much of the old stuff as you can, if it's in ok shape). Beware very thick "lid" gaskets.

Cool. Havnt really played around with it yet. I remember just buying a new carb as ‘ matter of course’ when I rebuilt the engine.

  9. Your old one (assuming it’s original) is probably better quality than anything new. Apart from the bushes, carbs don’t really wear out. Most just need a thorough clean. Solexes are easy to strip.

Yes. It’s original. And yes, I don’t doubt that it’s better. Everything older, always seems to be a better quality.

  11. I used these chaps to supply and fit a new throttle spindle, clean, resurface and supply correct jets for mine. I had to tell them which sizes though as too many options around.

At least you kept the old carb.
    So you can go back.
