Rear shocks

  1. Is it a simple job to do ? Do you unbolt them bottom 1st then undo the top ? Then fit top 1st on new ones then bottom bolts .

Yup simple, as long as the bolts aren't seized into the mountings

  4. That simple then so a muppet could do it.

  5. Yep, even me with my limited skills was able to do mine.

Though I think mine could have been the original shocks, and the bolts were a complete pig to get off. Ended up having to go to a mates garage just to use his heavy duty air gun to loosen them. But as long as you can get the bolts off, then its a simple enough job.

I've changed loads and never a problem with bolts - get a longer bar. ;)

  9. Or maybe I should just go down the gym more ;)

Had one Friday, took ten minutes with the 3/4 drive impact wrench to get a stuck bolt out, seized into the hub :(

    I must be lucky. :)

  12. I've never had a problem with them, but I dread the day a top mount captive nut goes. engine out, tank out,cut hole in panel under tank, repair nut, them put it all back. Copper slip them for the sake of VW mechanics of the future;)
