Rear parking camera

  1. A while back Maplin had a cheap deal on a parking camera setup that worked using wireless with some camera sensors that stuck on the rear bumper (just using some kind of Velcro I think) and transmitted to a little screen you could stick in the cab.

Was slightly tempted as sounded like an option that even if a bit ugly would be easy to remove and wouldn't need any more drilling in the bumper or wiring down the bus. Trouble was even the guy in Maplin admitted the range wasn't all that good and in a bus it probably wouldn't work.

Got thinking that maybe the general idea is good even if the one they stocked was a bit ugly and naff. Anybody ever tried this?

  2. I have a wired rear view camera on mine, it's great for checking the trailer is present, great for overtaking on motorway as a double check of blind spot and most of all, it's a bit of tech and I like my tech :)
Got t off eBay from China for £25 ish with a 4" screen which is dash mounted, but mine is also wired into the stereo screen too.....works a treat

  3. Thanks realise wired is probably simpler but wireless tempting for neatness. Just wondered if they were all dodgy or there were some systems that actually worked on something as big as a bus...

  4. how does the screen go , dubious , on yours when reversing "against" the sun ? does it darken? were on some trucks years ago , were not so good , but as said , was a long time ago
