Rear hatch compatibility

Hi
Is a crossover rear hatch the same as a late bay one?

 

The thing to look for is this an early Triangle shape won't fit a late unless you change the hinge.

Hinges and locks aside , aren't the early/late lids different sizes ??

Only way to find out is take the door card off and see if the lock plate is the same.

I'm pretty sure early hatches are just that and fit late splitties too.
So crossovers would have a late hatch... but don't quote me. lol
Here's a pic of the hinges so you can see the difference. Maybe it will help.

I don’t have my original one- I binned it

 

The hinge mech is different too, IIRC 2 bits/one bit. The red is early.
Check your hinges?

I know the early rear seal is a different shape to the late so I’m guessing they are different shape hatch doors

 

They are exactly the same size. All that's different is the hinge and the lock plate.
I actually tried an early on mine 71 crossover, and it fitted the hole ok, but the hinge was different. Found a guy on eBay who was selling a late but needed an early, so we did a swap.
