The rear bumps stops were so rusty they broke off, I want to replace but I can't see how the brackets come off are they welded on?
? If you're thinking your shocks will catch it, I doubt it. The first thing that hits without the bump stop is the drive shaft on the chassis - it hits the CV boot if the boot is fitted correctly.
lots of modern cars are done like that and actually the fronts are glued to metal plates that clip on
Just make sure the metal you stick them to is clean or the rust will blow the sikaflex ( or Tiger Seal ) off.
Air cooled beetle front bump-stops (at the top of the shock) have an identical sized nipple that is threaded inside. From memory on mine I drilled and tapped a hole where the original had rusted away, screwed in some stud and then screwed on the.beetle nipple.
