The rear bumps stops were so rusty they broke off, I want to replace but I can't see how the brackets come off are they welded on?

Welded. Tricky job as you'll probably have to repair a chunk of chassis and make a bracket yourself. :(

... depending what broke of course, maybe the teets (ooer) came off and the rest is ok?

    How about air shocks ?

    ?
If you're thinking your shocks will catch it, I doubt it.
The first thing that hits without the bump stop is the drive shaft on the chassis - it hits the CV boot if the boot is fitted correctly.

I don't think they'd stay there long glued?

lots of modern cars are done like that and actually the fronts are glued to metal plates that clip on ;)

  13. Have you still got the teats, or have they fallen off?

Just make sure the metal you stick them to is clean or the rust will blow the sikaflex ( or Tiger Seal ) off.

Teets are off but the rest is ok, how about if I weld nuts to the bracket and use these

There are lots of bump stops available with a stud like those Baz. Maybe something a bit smaller.

  20. Air cooled beetle front bump-stops (at the top of the shock) have an identical sized nipple that is threaded inside.
From memory on mine I drilled and tapped a hole where the original had rusted away, screwed in some stud and then screwed on the.beetle nipple.
