Rear bump stops

The rear bumps stops were so rusty they broke off, I want to replace but I can't see how the brackets come off are they welded on?

 

Welded. Tricky job as you'll probably have to repair a chunk of chassis and make a bracket yourself.

 

... depending what broke of course, maybe the teets (ooer) came off and the rest is ok?

 

Just the teets , is there a way around it

If you're thinking your shocks will catch it, I doubt it.
The first thing that hits without the bump stop is the drive shaft on the chassis - it hits the CV boot if the boot is fitted correctly.

 

Just glue the bump stops on with sika flex

I don't think they'd stay there long glued?

 

lots of modern cars are done like that and actually the fronts are glued to metal plates that clip on

 

Have you still got the teats, or have they fallen off?

 

Just make sure the metal you stick them to is clean or the rust will blow the sikaflex ( or Tiger Seal ) off.

Teets are off but the rest is ok, how about if I weld nuts to the bracket and use these

They attach to her bra. Often see her down Just Kampers.

 

There are lots of bump stops available with a stud like those Baz. Maybe something a bit smaller.

 

Air cooled beetle front bump-stops (at the top of the shock) have an identical sized nipple that is threaded inside.
From memory on mine I drilled and tapped a hole where the original had rusted away, screwed in some stud and then screwed on the.beetle nipple.
