i backed the rear shoes off because they were sticking and took her for a run , after about two miles i felt her holding back again , i tried to glide to a halt but she was braking rather than gliding , whats happening , anyone know - she was fine before the garage put a new cylinder on for the mot .
I'd back the shoes off a little more. From what you say it sounds as if the shoes are still scuffing slightly so warm up to the point at which they are binding. If the handbrake has been adjusted up it should be noticeable by the decrease in travel of the handle.
right full story - went out this morning after backing them off slightly at the cylinder , after a few miles she was dragging back , i had to give her extra power to get the last few hundrd yards home ,i then backed them off completely and took her for a 10 mile run , i stopped and had a walk about . then on the way home after about half a mile she began to drag again . The handbrake is slack , i purposely never used it on the seconnd run . Just phoned the garage and said this is happening and it was'nt happening before you changed the cylinder , he said its unlikely to be the cylinder and is more likely to be a hose ballooning , he's got her tomorrow to put new drums and shoes on , he said don't order cylinders he can get them cheaply if they are the cause , i agree with him.
Hose ballooning - balony - he's adjusted them or fitted something wrong, but at least he'll get another go tomorrow.
If he clamped a hose [and it had gone internally] then only one drum would have stayed on... it is both sides?
Ferocious finger Mick. I reckon it's going to be the handbrake whatever has been said. I expect it will prove to be the cables themselves jamming in the outers leading to the rear wheels. It always is. Budget for 2 new cables Malc.
dunno .... But, I don`t think both wheels are sticking... The handbrake is slack , i purposely never used it on the seconnd run . maybe faulty sticking cylinder or flexi breaking down...
